The Gambler

Here I go, rolling the dice

Playing the odds again

Bowing to prejudicial vice

As time slips, grain by grain

Voices ask me to retreat

Yet I stand facing my foe

Victim of a shallow conceit

My pride too stiff to bow

Everything at stake, nothing to gain

Yet, here I go, playing the odds again

All I own, all that is mine

Is now heaped on the table

Fate sits across the line

Smirks while I still gamble

Everything at stake, nothing to gain

Yet, here I go, playing the odds again

The dice dribbles from hand

My fate, I know is sealed

Scaling fear, I withstand

Begging to be healed

Everything at stake, nothing to gain

Yet, here I go, playing the odds again

It’s not the game that entice

It’s not the win that matter

Am a man, prone to the vice

Doomed to fall and shatter

Everything at stake, nothing to gain

Yet, here I go, playing the odds again
